PET packaging belt/PET strapping—also frequently referred to as PET "plastic steel" strapping—is a new type of eco-friendly packaging material distinguished by its exceptional performance and wide range of applications. It is primarily utilized for the bundling of heavy-duty products, including paper goods, steel, aluminum, cast iron, cotton, chemical fiber products, bricks, marble, and similar items.

KEY FEATURES:
High Strength + Low Elongation------- Tensile strength approaches that of steel strapping of equivalent specifications, while elongation is significantly lower than that of PP strapping (typically ≤10%). This ensures that binding tension is maintained over the long term, resisting slackening. With a melting point of 260°C, the material remains stable in environments ranging from -50°C to 80°C and will not deform at temperatures up to 120°C.
Safe & Eco-friendly------- Features no sharp edges, eliminating the risk of injury to personnel during handling. It is rust-proof and chemically resistant, ensuring that cargo remains free from contamination. Furthermore, it is fully recyclable and meets the requirements for eco-friendly packaging.
Economical & Lightweight-------- With a density approximately one-sixth that of steel, one ton of PET strapping offers the same linear footage as six tons of steel strapping of equivalent specifications. Its cost per meter is over 40% lower than that of steel strapping, resulting in significant savings in both space and labor for handling and storage.
Dual Compatibility (Heat Sealing / Buckles)-------- Supports both heat-fusion bonding (eliminating the need for buckles for high-efficiency application) and metal buckle connections, making it compatible with fully automatic, semi-automatic, and manual strapping tools.

Common Specifications and Appearance:
Widths typically include------ 9mm, 12mm, 15mm, 16mm, 19mm, and 25mm; thickness ranges from 0.6mm to 1.3mm. The surface finish is available in either a smooth matte texture or a ribbed/embossed pattern (designed to increase friction and facilitate smooth feeding through strapping machinery).
Colors--------- Commonly available in transparent and green; custom colors—such as black, white, and red—are also available upon request. When tackifiers are added to the material, the resulting appearance becomes semi-transparent or opaque.

How does PET strapping demonstrate its "cracking-resistant" properties?

High impact resistance------When subjected to sudden external impacts (such as falling or colliding with goods), PET strapping absorbs energy through its elastic deformation, rather than breaking directly like brittle materials. This is thanks to its excellent toughness.

Fatigue resistance-------- During transportation, goods experience continuous vibration. PET strapping can withstand these repeated micro-deformations without material fatigue or micro-cracks, thus making it less prone to breakage.

Why do raw materials need to be dried?

For PET plastic steel strapping, "dehumidification and drying" is the key link in the molding of PET products.

PET is a hygroscopic polymer. It will quickly absorb moisture in the air and increase the moisture content of the material.

For example, if the completely dried PET resin is in contact with air at a relative temperature of (30-40)℃ for 12 minutes, its moisture content will reach %. The trace amount of moisture remaining in the material will also cause water degradation of the PET melt, reduce the viscosity (IV), cause the mechanical properties of the product to decrease, and the appearance will show silver spots. In the production process, the moisture content in the PET material decreases, the special viscosity increases (Table 2), the relative molecular weight increases, and the mechanical properties of the product also increase accordingly, so the PET plastic steel strapping tape is relatively safe during transportation and bundling.
